About us

We're Lucie and Gillian, and we created Cimes et Horizon.

How the project began

Gillian first went to Nepal with an association that organised the Annapurna Circuit trek and used it to bring school supplies to an isolated village. Participants bought the materials in Kathmandu, carried them to the village and handed them over there.

On that trek, he met Kishan, a mountain guide who coordinated the project. They became friends, and Gillian went back with him three more times: Mera Peak, Island Peak and Lobuche Peak.

Over the course of their conversations, Kishan kept coming back to one problem: French travellers would like to be able to book their trip with a French agency. For that he needs partners in France, because as a Nepali citizen he can't set up a company there.

In early 2026, Lucie left her salaried job. She had wanted to start something of her own for a while, and Gillian had the contacts and the experience of the terrain. So we set out together.

Who we are

We both studied at the Université de Technologie de Belfort-Montbéliard; that's where we met.

Lucie has since spent about ten years as an engineer building software and web platforms in a range of fields (video games, healthcare, flight simulation). She co-built this site with Gillian, runs the company and handles communications. She climbs and hikes. She's a beginner in mountaineering: the Pyramide Vincent (4,215 m) is her first ascent in the high mountains.

Gillian has a PhD in engineering. He worked in research, then in technical and product leadership roles. He's the mountaineer of the two: Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, the Annapurna Circuit, Everest Base Camp, Mera Peak, Island Peak and Lobuche Peak. He knows what a trek in Nepal is really like: the atmosphere, daily life on the trail, the logistics, the altitude. He'll be glad to give you good advice and answer any question you have.

What matters to us

We work directly with Kishan's agency, founded by Tulsi, a guide who has summited Everest and has long defended the recognition of the guiding profession in Nepal. This way, most of the money from a trip stays on the ground, paying guides, porters and logistics teams, many of whom come from villages like Laprak, where Kishan and Tulsi are from.

If you'd like to add a charitable side to your trip, for example school supplies like the ones that brought Gillian and Kishan together, tell us and we can set it up with Kishan's team.

Everest and the Annapurnas are classics, and we're happy to take you there. But Nepal has other, less-travelled regions, such as Manaslu, Mustang, Dolpo or Kanchenjunga. If the idea appeals to you, let's talk.

We won't hide that these trips involve long flights, which weigh on the climate. If you'd like to offset yours, we'll help you find the most effective way to do it.

Throughout your trip, you'll have a contact who knows the terrain: Gillian in France, and Kishan's guides on the ground.
